Satan

Doesn't "Satan" mean "adversary" and not the devil?

For instance, I received the question "Did satan enter Peter when he told Jesus, 'be it far from thee, Lord.; this shall not be unto thee'?" (Matt 16:22, 23)

It seems that this IS Satan. If it was simply referring to an "adversary" then they could have/should have used the Greek word "antidikos" (Strong's #476), which is used for "adversary" throughout the New Testament. The Greek word Satan "Σατανᾶ" seems to most always mean Satan/Azazel, even considering the context.
